Love it or loathe it, AI looks like it’s here to stay. As its shiny hands shape our society, from the writing we read to medical advancements that could help save our lives, we need to take the time to discuss the uses, ethics and impact of this paradigm-shifting innovation.
It’s this reasoning which has inspired Mai ist für AI, a month-long event series at 42 Berlin. The 42 campus, home to a tuition-free coding and software development school, will open its doors during the month of May to experts, industry members and the simply curious for a wide-ranging exploration of the future of human-machine interaction.
A fixture throughout the month will be the thought-provoking Generative AI vs Human Artists exhibition. Ten artists will display their work in response to a given theme, and a generative AI tool will produce its own interpretation of the same prompts. The artworks will then be displayed side by side, their authors hidden, leading us to question the nature of creativity.

Near the end of the month the Spotlight on AI evening promises fresh perspectives on the digital forces shaping our world. The TEDx-style event will feature talks from leading minds in AI who will discuss its hidden challenges, as well as plenty of time for questions and networking.
With tech’s rapid pace and AI’s ever-expanding reach, Mai ist für AI aims to ground the conversation in nuance and critical thought. And true to 42 Berlin’s ethos, every event is free and open to the public.
Whether you’re coding neural nets or still wondering what ChatGPT actually is, Mai ist für AI promises fresh perspectives on the digital forces shaping our world, plus a chance to connect with others in the field.
