This inconspicuous but highly popular little café in Friedrichshain lives up to its name with a daily selection of creative salads, soups and sandwiches – fresh, organic and handmade (local ingredients are also used whenever possible).
Ciabatta rolls come generously stuffed with tandoori chicken, tofu or the homemade tomato and balsamic chutney; the turkey with cranberry, roast pumpkin and goat’s cheese was delicious (€2.90-3.40). For a warm winter fix, try one of the soups, which range from chickpea with nutmeg to broccoli and cheddar (€3.20, including bread).
The busy chefs at Goodies seem never to tire of dreaming up fresh novelties: a vegan saté salad with soba noodles and organic sesame tofu, or the “bagel of the week” which, when we went, involved polenta-feta sticks, spinach, savoy cabbage and Frischkäse (both €3.20). Besides excellent coffee, they make exotic “Hotties” to satisfy every imaginable desire. Our tip for winter-wrecked immune systems: fresh ginger-apple tea (small: €2; tall: €2.50). There’s something for your sweet tooth, too – banana bread, “magic bars” (coconut/chocolate/walnut) and chocolate-cherry cheesecake (€1.40-€2.80). Yes, meat-haters – few places in Berlin are so vegan-friendly and tasty.
