Freischneider Loge

Hairdressing is a form of art, right? It requires a certain level of artistic talent anyway. If you're looking for something a bit more creative than your usual cut and blow-dry, check out Freischneider Loge.

Hairdressing is a form of art, right? It requires a certain level of artistic talent anyway. If you’re looking for something a bit more creative than your usual cut and blow-dry, check out Freischneider Loge. At his salon and art studio, Tim Pernitzsch – nephew of the famous German artist Joseph Beuys – creates what he calls ‘fine English haircuts’ – influenced by a London street style.

Tim is a hairdresser by trade, but also indulges in painting, installation art and DJing. ‘Social freedom’, honest talk and artists such as Damian Hirst influence his style, which he calls ‘free cut’. When it comes to art, Tim likes to manipulate media to make a social or political statement. He loves to snip things, whether it’s hair, his customized baseball cap or the latest copy of Zitty. At the salon you can get a funky barnet chop for €20 – €40, whilst listening to a selection of ‘electronic-hi-class-jazz’ records, looking around and taking in the art work scrawled across the walls or chatting to Tim about his latest installations and painting.
