This all-organic pick ‘n’ mix bar – a place where you can flirt with people you know will have fit bodies – is another (welcome) addition to the healthy fast-food scene in trend-nurturing Mitte.

At Eve & Adams, there are 30 different salad ingredients on offer. You can opt for a base of mixed greens, couscous or pasta and add as many ingredients as you fancy, choosing from a large array of sprouts, olives, cheeses, and peas. Dried fruits and nuts jostle with fresh vegetables and fruit (avocados, cherry tomatoes, lychees, and pomegranates) and even a few meaty options (tender chicken breast, chorizo, anchovies or smoked salmon). You can dress your creation with one of the many house creations (we liked the honey-mustard).

The difference between this and a classic American salad bar is that here, you don’t help yourself – the salad bartender does it for you, which does rather inconveniently delay the process, especially during rush hours. But otherwise, there’s nothing to fear – the portions are pretty generous and since you are not charged according to weight (there’s a flat price for each additional ingredient), there are no nasty surprises at the till.

The smoothie selection is one of the largest in town, ranging from lassie-type concoctions (with yoghurt, milk or soy milk) to endless combinations of fruits, including orange or rose blossoms, lavender, cashew nuts, cranberry and lychee. It’s all Bio and wonderful, but we still miss the US recipes, which are often creamier. They also serve “Yes Please!” soups, freshly made sandwiches (€4.40) and an all-organic selection of hot drinks (including fairtrade coffee and cocoa). To eat in or zum Mitnehmen.
