From August 9 to September 3, 2022, the courtyard of the ‘Stasi Headquarters – Campus for Democracy’ will once again become an open-air venue: the Campus Cinema will present films on GDR history for four weeks. Topics covered will be state security, adaptation and resistance, archives and enlightenment. On Tuesdays documentaries will be screened, on Thursdays feature films. On Saturdays, the film selection aims to support dialogue between the generations.

For the third time, the Bundesarchiv – Stasi Archives, the Berlin Commissioner for Reappraisal and the Robert Havemann Society e. V. invite you to experience open-air cinema in a historical place: the Stasi Headquarters – Campus for Democracy. All films were produced after 1989 and deal with topics such as repression, revolution or reappraisal. They awaken memories or provide space for questions from younger generations. At the historical location, against the backdrop of the former official residence of Stasi Minister Mielke, it’s possible to engage in a conversation about the can be discussed.

The evening screenings will start with short films or material from the Bundesarchiv – Stasi Unterterlagen-Archive and the Archive of the GDR Opposition. Afterwards, we invite you to talk with filmmakers, experts and contemporary witnesses. The event will be accompanied by a program with exhibitions, guided tours on the film theme of the evening, and a film and workshop program for children on Saturdays.
