Berlin ticket price hike: Passengers face another 7.5% increase
Tickets for local public transport operated by the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) will likely face a 7.5% increase in the new year. The beginning of this year also saw a price hike by almost 7%, bringing the price up to 3.50 euros for a single ticket in Berlin’s AB tariff zone.
According to information from the German Press Agency, a single trip will soon cost 3.80 euros – that is 30 cents more than before. The price for the popular four-trip ticket is expected to rise by 80 cents to 11.60 euros.
However, the final decision of the VBB supervisory board is still pending. When calculating the ticket prices, the committee supposedly takes into account the cost of living, such as electricity and fuel prices.
