Berlin on Film: The Teaches of Peaches

On Tuesday August 27, The Berliner and Mobile Kino are teaming up for a special screening

Twenty-four years ago, at the dawn of the new millenia, a woman named Merrill Nisker moved to Berlin, renamed herself Peaches, and recorded an album in her bedroom. That album, The Teaches of Peaches, full of titty-sucking and skittle-diddling, became one of the most influential rock records of the aughts, and Peaches became a queer icon and veritable rock star.

In 2024, the first documentary ever made on her generation-defining music and life hit screens, following Peaches – who still lives in Berlin – on the 20th anniversary tour of that album. The film, named for the iconic album, is a mix of behind-the-scenes, concert tour footage and never-before-seen archival recordings. You can expect “a wild celebration with hairy pussy creatures” and “a giant ejaculating dick” – so, classic Peaches. Director Philipp Fussenegger offers a peek behind the persona and an intimate portrait full of humour and sensitivity, plus cameos from the likes of Chilly Gonzales and Leslie Feist. Don’t miss this special onscreen opportunity to fuck the pain away.

  • Tue Aug 27, 20:00, Fimmel @ Berliner Berg Brauerei, Treptower Str. 39. Tickets here.
