In 1999, a groundbreaking Berlin movie by a film school reject took the world by storm. The filmmaker was Tom Tykwer, and his techno-scored movie broke out as an international hit and sparked new life within the German film industry. Run Lola Run is now an absolute Berlin classic.
This 90s gem is a frenetic thriller that follows the title character Lola as she runs across the city in a bid to save her boyfriend’s life, styled like a time loop with three different endings based on the choices that Lola makes on each of her 20-minute run-and-rescue attempts.
The screening will also double as the launch party for the new issue of The Berliner. The cover story is an in-depth look at the running scene of Berlin, and the movie is the perfect accompaniment to the theme. After the credits roll, there will be DJ sets and a chance to have a drink and hang out.
