On June 7, tour guide Finn Ballard will lead a walking tour about the neighbourhood of Friedenau.

Friedenau: Berlin’s Most Beautiful Secret
On this tour, we’ll discover Berlin’s most beautiful secret: the neighbourhood of Friedenau. Now part of Schöneberg, the area was designed to offer light and leisure to a very well-to-do demographic and boasts some of the loveliest villas in the city. We’ll see the homes of artists, movie stars and writers (including Günter Grass) and enjoy the leafy ambiance of an area largely undamaged during WWII.
But Berlin’s dark history is tangible in Friedenau too: we’ll talk about the terrible fate which befell members of the anti-Nazi ‘Red Orchestra’ resistance circle, resident in the neighbourhood. We’ll also see some considerable damage from the very moments of the war, and a crash site from the time of the Berlin Airlift.
Above all, though, our tour will be about the beauty of this quarter of Berlin – especially at our final stop, the lovely square Rüdesheimer Platz in neighbouring Wilmersdorf.
Our tour will be meeting outside the Cosima-Filmtheater, Sieglindestraße 10, 12159 Berlin. We will meet at 1pm and leave by 1:10.
The tour will end two hours later at Rüdesheimer Platz. We will not be using public transportation – the tour is completely outside.
