Each nanny in the Lighthouse pool is a native or near-native English speaker, is certified in infant and child first aid, has a valid working permit, and holds a Führungszeugnis (police clearance certificate). The agency also supports nannies that are new in Berlin and need to get set up within the German system (insurance, taxes, visa, etc.). US-born founder Genevieve van Voorhis has worked as a nanny in Berlin since 2014. Within its first year, Lighthouse has already helped nearly 100 families find the flexible childcare they need.
