In the month of August, Berlin becomes a bit of an art ghost town. Behold the Storefront Collection, situated practically at the door of Schlesisches Tor, offering a wide selection of art works that is always changing just slightly. On view in July and August are a small selection of quaint, yet hard drawings by Claudia Chaseling. The German artist spends her time between New York City and Berlin, and is mostly known for her large-scale painting installations.
Somehow, her essence translates into the very small-format (10 x 20 cm) mixed-media sketches. Her rough implementation of colour and line packs a powerful statement in the compositions of her works. The size of the images also comes into play, acting like tiny windows into the feminine psyche.
